And even that is not to put it correctly since we, too, are 'animals', a fact we usefully forget. It is only by segregating ourselves into some special form of life that we manage to justify our - on the whole - appalling treatment of our fellow creatures. The fact is, we have the whip hand and we never fail to use it.
This picture is now almost 15 years old - the first cows I knew - including Cowslip with her white face - I can't believe so much time has passed since, yet she's still fresh in my memory
